Cold Heading
Stainless wire is cut to length and pressed into rough spheres between two hemispherical dies. Cold heading forms the ball without heat, keeping the austenitic structure of 201 intact.
Screening
Screening, the balls after the hard grinding is initially screened through the screening machine, and the unqualified ball will be eliminated.
Precision Grinding
Grinding wheels bring every ball within the ordered grade, from G1000 for hardware up to G10 for valves and sprayers. This is the step that decides how smoothly the ball will run in your drawer slide or caster.
Polish Stainless Steel Balls
The precision-ground 201 stainless steel balls are tumbled in specialized lapping barrels loaded with proprietary polishing media and compounds.Our advanced polishing manufacture techniques yield an exceptionally bright, mirror-like finish.
Oil Removal
Oil removal equipment, put the ball into the equipment, after screening, separate the ball from the oil.
Cleaning
After screening, the steel ball is cleaned again and then dried.
Measuring Instrumentation
After the hard grinding, the steel ball will be measured in accuracy, hardness, etc., and the three-needle measuring instrument will be used to check whether the expected effect is achieved.
Sorting
After cleaning, the steel ball will be qualified into the container through the sorting machine, and finally manually test to complete the whole process of steel ball production.
201 stainless steel balls are manufactured from AISI 201 austenitic stainless steel, containing 16-18% chromium and 3.5-5.5% nickel. They offer low cost and excellent mechanical properties.
With a hardness of 25-28 HRC and a tensile strength of 515-655 MPa, they are suitable for semi-precision applications.
They offer moderate corrosion resistance and are suitable for dry or slightly humid environments, but not for strong acids or marine environments.
Due to their austenitic structure, the balls are non-magnetic and are widely used in equipment requiring non-magnetic properties.
They are easy to machine and form, making them suitable for a variety of applications, including hardware, jewelry, and industrial mixing.

Our 201 stainless steel balls are produced entirely in-house – cold heading, grinding, polishing, cleaning, inspection and packing – so we control quality and lead time at every step. Production runs under ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management systems.
High-strength inner packaging: Shockproof foam bags or custom plastic boxes are used to secure each 201 stainless steel ball in place, protecting it from impacts and scratches.
Moisture-proof protection: A moisture-proofing agent is added to effectively prevent the impact of moisture on the product during transportation.
Sturdy outer packaging: Thickened corrugated cardboard boxes or wooden pallets (for large orders) are used to ensure safe long-distance transportation.
Clear labeling: Product specifications, quantity, and drop warnings are clearly marked on the outer packaging box for easy verification and safe handling.
201 stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-manganese-nickel alloy, often classified as a "nickel-saving" steel due to its lower nickel content compared to grades like 304 or 316. It contains approximately 16-18% chromium, 3.5-5.5% manganese, 1% silicon, 0.15% carbon, and 3.5–5.5% nickel. This composition makes it a cost-effective alternative to higher-nickel grades while maintaining good formability and strength.
